01 Nov Waste Not: How to Use Almost Every Bite of your Video Shoot
Most every weekend, my family meal preps together. We plan, we shop, we chop, we cook and then divvy up a week’s worth of meals so we’ve got something at least somewhathealthy ready to go when the week gets crazy.
As I chop broccoli, zucchini and sweet potato, I think about video. Ok, I’m pretty much always thinking about video, but let me explain.
Whether you hire a video team like us, or do it all yourself, you should take the same meal-prep approach to video projects: plan well, shoot in “bulk,” prep, and then store ready-to-serve videos that are fresh and timely, just as your audience begins to hunger for them.
Our video production company specializes in videos for healthcare. Here’s an example of how we milk the most from every shoot. Let’s say we interview an allergist in December. We get material for their bio video for the Find-a-Doc section of your website to post right away. While that provider is there, all dressed up and in front of a camera, we ask about their expertise, plus get their best short tip about surviving allergy season. With good planning, we’ve gathered content that we can use in multiple videos, and on multiple platforms. Less than 30 minutes after they first sat down with us, your provider goes back to seeing patients.
Now, you have material for a bio video and an expert video for your website. Plus, you’ve got a video tip that you can roll out on social media about the time the first sniffles start in the spring. Let’s take it a step further. If you transcribe that provider’s interview, which we do for you, you also could have the makings of a blog post, some articles, a few tweets and a couple of facebook posts. You could even pull from the raw video files for video or audio clips you can use on their own or as a mini podcast.
We approach every video shoot the same way we do a grocery run on a weekend morning. With strategic planning and a waste-not attitude, just a half hour with your provider can deliver a smorgasbord of content that you can serve up just when it’s needed most.
Bon Appetit!
